About Lions

Lions people

Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world. Our more than 1.3 million members in 206 countries and geographic areas are different in many ways, but we share a core belief – COMMUNITY IS WHAT WE MAKE IT.

Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller and communities get better. This is because LIONS provide help where it is needed, in our own communities as well as around the world with unmatched integrity and energy.

Our 45,000 clubs and 1.35 million members make us the WORLD’S LARGEST SERVICE CLUB ORGANISATION.

Our motto is “WE SERVE” and we are a part of a global service network doing whatever is necessary to get the job done – effectively!

Lions recently:

  • Brought 3,000 volunteers together to build a playground for children of all abilities in California, USA.
  • Fed 60,000 people in a township in South Africa. It's something Lions do there every day.
  • Sent a team of eye surgeons to Honduras to treat more than 100 adults and children.

Everywhere we work, we make friends with children who need school books, with seniors who need transportation and with people who we may never meet.

We are led by a group of dedicated and talented volunteer leaders from around the world. And…we are ably supported, in all our efforts, by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), which helps to fund Lions humanitarian projects.

The International Headquarters for both Lions Clubs International and Lions Clubs International Foundation is in Oak Brook, Illinois, USA.
